The customer was getting married and he restored muscle cars. He needed more room. We demoed an old patio and add on the client had started. Then, excavated under the house into a crawl space while digging out a basement that would become a 30x 54’ space for the cars. On top of this, we enlarged the kitchen, created a great room, added a Master Suite, remodeled the interior and added a deck. A porch was added to the front along with a circular drive. On the side, the existing garage was converted to a finished basement and the garage doors were moved to the new space. A driveway was configured and the grading completed. A true challenge structurally and tying everything together to match the existing architecture.
Functional Space with a Great Outdoor Space
With three young girls and many friends, the clients wanted a great outdoor space to entertain along with functional space for the family. We enlarged the laundry room downstairs, did a bump out mud room and added a covered deck with stone and a fireplace. Note the during pictures for the deck showing the process to lay the stone. We utilized the existing structure rather than throwing it away.
Above the laundry room, we added a bathroom/laundry room/closet to act as a Jack and Jill for two bedrooms. We also enlarged one of the bedrooms. The during pictures show the dollhouse look during framing and the complexity of matching the dutch hip roof.A key to maximizing the space was a number of cabinets in all available space. The project also included remodeling two other bathrooms.
A Demo to a Dream Home
The client wanted us to demo his existing structure. Then utilize the old slab and add to it to build his dream home. Our task was to take it to a dried in status with the outside finished. He then finished the interior over time. The project was interesting because the unique design was created by an HGTV personality and the homeowner had us build a panic room within the structure.
