Foyer

The client wanted to take a small entry with a low ceiling and give it some pizzazz as the entrance to a bungalow remake.  The ceiling was reframed and vaulted.  The walls were stripped of wallpaper and a heavy texture added.  The crown was kept for effect.  The chandelier was changed out and a hammered copper medallion created in a box to house the arts and crafts fixture as well as can light around the perimeter.  The prairie style door was added to help bring light in and give the room a sense of size.  It is protected by a good sized porch.  The stairs, railing, and landing were changed to oak with wrought iron balusters.  The finishing touches were a wool sisal runner on the stairs and old stain glass window hung in the existing window.

Columns

This makeover was in conjunction with “Stairway”.  This is the other side of the entry.  The room created by the walls remained when the walls were taken out and the columns installed.  The big difference was how the area opened up and gave a much richer feeling.  The house was sold in a subdivision where 25% of the homes were for sale.

Stairway

This stairwell was drywall with a pine cap rail.  It is also the first thing one sees when entering the house.  The client wanted to sell in a tough market so we did a makeover to give the house a nice focal point when entering.  The floors were refinished.  The stairwell was done in oak and wrought iron.  The stair parts and the main floor were done in two different colors of stain for contrast.  Under Columns, you can see the other side of the entry and makeover.
